WORK TRIANGLE

In order to achieve attainable kitchen, it should be designed to what is known as the Kitchen Work Triangle. The idea is that your cooker, sink, and fridge-freezer should all be positioned to form a triangle. The smaller the triangle, the more efficient use of space is.

ERGONOMICS

Ergonomics aims to prepare meals more efficiently, faster and with less fatiguing by improving the interface between the human body and the things we need to interact with to get work done. For instance, the height of your worktop should be 15 cm below your elbow; the upper elements should be positioned on appropriate height, on which the user is still able to reach without any struggle.

PRACTICALITY

Practical kitchen layout had a good overview, provides enough light and excludes possible obstacles during meal preparation. It contains more drawers and pull-out shelves, which allows us better overview of the content and better accessibility.

SAFETY

There are many different tasks being done in different areas of your kitchen, so it is essential to properly organise the kitchen elements, to choose adequate materials and provide enough light. It is important to predict possible spatial dilemmas, which could disrupt the user and apply alterations to the design in order to achieve safe work environment. We should pay special attention to safety, when kids are present in the kitchen.

KITCHEN APPLIANCES

All built-in appliances should be installed on proper height for effective and easier use, without unnecessary bending. For example, position the oven at a convenient height – i.e. at worktop height, the same applies to the dishwasher. To ensure long life of appliances, a proper flow of the air should be provided; after all it also increases the efficiency and saves energy.
